On September 7, 2019, at approximately 4:40 p.m., State Police responded to State Route 3 and 30 in the town of Harrietstown for a report of an erratic vehicle being operated eastbound on State Route 3 and 30.  State Police located the 2006 Kia Sedona driving along the shoulder of the roadway.  A traffic stop was initiated and the operator was identified as Thomas A. Schafer of Whitesboro, NY. Schafer was subsequently arrested for DWI. An open container of vodka was located in his vehicle. Schafer’s blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.32%.  He was charged with Aggravated DWI and further ticketed for failure to keep right, and for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Schafer was released on tickets returnable to the Town of Harrietstown Court.
