UPDATED: All lanes of the Southern State Parkway have re-opened
State Police are investigating single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020, on the Southern State Parkway westbound near Exit 41A in the town of Islip, Suffolk County.
On Wednesday October 16, a Hempstead man was arrested on multiple charges after continually hitting a woman’s car on the Southern State Parkway. He then then struck a responding New York State Parks Police vehicle, while they attempted to stop the ongoing incident on the Meadowbrook and Ocean State Parkways.

On Friday August 9, 2019 the State Police Special Investigations Unit arrested Brian J. Crook, age 33, of Freeport, NY, for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree, a class A-II felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, a class D felony.
The New York State Police, with the assistance of the Nassau County Police Department, are investigating a 1 car fatal accident on the Northern State Parkway eastbound at exit 26S in the Town of North Hempstead.
On Monday, March 11, 2019, at approximately 1:25 p.m., troopers attempted to conduct a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2014 Mercedes Benz, ML350, on the eastbound side of the Southern State Parkway, west of State Route 111 (Exit 43), in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County, NY, for traveling at 105 mph. The operator of the vehicle, Stanley Joiner, age 21, of Wyndanch, NY, attempted to flee.
