On February 5, 2020 New York State Police at Oneonta arrested two juveniles, ages 14 and 17 for the felony of Burglary in the second degree and Grand Larceny in the third degree.

On February 5, at approximately 4:26 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the 14-year-old’s residence after the teen’s family reported that the juvenile had left home some time overnight.  The juvenile was last seen with a 17-year-old who troopers learned was also missing.  Troopers soon discovered that a vehicle and the keys to the vehicle were missing from a residence on Grove Street in the town of Morris.  A further investigation determined that a 15-year-old from Lafayette that is associated with the 17-year-old was also missing.

As the investigation unfolded, troopers discovered that the 14 and 17-year-old teens stole the vehicle, drove to Lafayette to pick up the 15-year-old.  The teens were located at Taco Bell in the City of Cortland and taken into custody by City of Cortland officers then turned over to New York State Police.  The 15-year-old was picked up by Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies and returned home. The 14 and 17-year-old youths were transported to State Police in Oneonta and processed.  The 17-year-old was arraigned in Otsego County Youth Part and released to Otsego County Department of Social Services.  The 14-year-old was issued a family court appearance ticket to Otsego County Family Court on February 10, 2020.
