PRESS RELEASE

Today, at approximately 12:15 p.m. the State Police responded to a call of 2 individuals that had fallen through the ice on Brisco Cove in Sodus Point.  Troopers, along with officers from Environmental Conservation, and the Alton Fire Department located one individual in the water approximately 30 feet off shore clinging to ice.  First respoders and a civilian went into the water and attempted to rescue the adult male, later identified as Jason Brudz, from Amherst, NY but were unsuccessful.

The Alton Fire Department launched a rescue boat and along with Tpr. Gabriel Desanto, ENCON Officer Kevin Thomas, the concerned citizen, Gregory Crane, and others were able to rescue Mr. Brudz from the freezing water.

Mr. Brudz was taken to Rochester General Hospital and the other individual, his son, Fisher Brudz, was taken to Newark Wayne Hospital for treatment.

The investigation is continuing.
