***UPDATE - January 7, 2020***

On Friday January 3, 2020 at approximately 10:20 a.m. the driver of a 2015 Infinity sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on the Southern State Parkway lost control of the vehicle striking a tree in the center median.  As a result of the crash the driver Ismael Jefferson 22 of Hempstead, NY, and two passengers Tony Porter, 22 of Westbury and Ja-Asia Hasty 19 of Hempstead all succumbed to their injuries.  The fourth passenger Ty-Jeneyah Cruz 21 of Hempstead was injured and hospitalized. 





UPDATE: All lanes of the Southern State Parkway have re-opened.


State Police are investigating single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020, on the Southern State Parkway westbound near Exit 41A in the town of Islip, Suffolk County.

The preliminary investigation has determined that two individuals are deceased, and two others have been injured.
 
The SSP westbound is closed at Exit 41A, and all traffic is being diverted to the northbound Sagtikos State Parkway.
