The driver of the Mercedes was Gumercindo Tinit-Tezen, 28 of Mastic, NY.
28 years old not 31.

 



On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at approximately 10:00 pm, State Police received a call of a two car motor vehicle collision on the westbound Sunrise Highway east of Exit 64, in the Town of Southampton, Suffolk County. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2004 Mercedes Benz E320, traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes, struck a 2008 Toyota Camry head on, operated by Michelle Navas, age 28, of Hicksville, NY. Ms. Navas was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the Mercedes Benz was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center and succumbed to injuries sustained from the collision. No other occupants were in either vehicle. The identity of the Mercedes Benz operator is currently being withheld pending notification to the family.
