On October 15, 2019, New York State Police in Schodack were notified of a cyberattack against the website for the East Greenbush Central School District.
On October 29, 2019, members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, with the assistance of the New York State Police Computer Crime Unit and the East Greenbush Police Department, executed a Search Warrant at an address in the town of East Greenbush.
A 15-year-old was subsequently arrested and charged with Computer Tampering in the 3rd degree and Computer Trespass, both E felonies, and Unauthorized Use of a Computer,  an A misdemeanor.
The 15-year-old was transported to the State Police barracks in Schodack, processed and released to a parent, and is due to appear in Rensselaer County Family Court at a later date.
