The victim is a 27-year-old male from Freeport, NY and is still in critical condition at Nassau University Medical Center.

 

Both, Oscar Romero-Hernandez and Jose Otero arraignments are pending with Nassau County First District Court.

The State Police, with the assistance of the Freeport Police Department, are investigating an assault with an axe, which occurred in a wooded area off the Meadowbrook State Parkway in the area of Sunrise Highway, at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in the village of Freeport, Nassau County. 

 

Two people, Oscar Romero-Hernandez, age 37, and Jose Otero, age 38, both of Freeport were in a physical altercation where they assaulted the victim whowas struck in the head with an axe. 

 

The victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center with serious injuries and is in critical condition.

 

Romero-Hernandez is being charged with Attempted Murder 2nd degree and Assault 1st degree.

 

Otero is being charged with Attempted Murder 2nd degree, Assault 1st degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree.
