On May 10, 2020, State Police in Wilton arrested 37-year-old Robert Scales and 41-year-old Kevin G. Martin of Vermont, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (B felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (C felony), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor). Troopers also charged 38-year-old Janina M. McDonald of Vermont, with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor).

McDonald was stopped for a traffic infraction as she travelled down I-87 in the Town of Moreau Sunday evening. When the Trooper spoke with her, they observed signs indicative of drug use. A search of the vehicle and the passengers revealed that McDonald was in possession of less than a gram of MDMA and a tube containing cocaine residue. Scales was in possession of approximately 9.6 grams of crack cocaine and less than a gram of MDMA, and Martin was in possession of approximately 6.6 grams of crack cocaine and less than a gram of MDMA.

All three suspects were processed at SP Wilton. McDonald was issued an appearance ticket for Moreau Town Court on July 1, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. Scales and Martin were both arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and released on their own recognizance, they are due back June 7, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
