On October 2, 2022, at approximately 10:15 p.m. a trooper patrolling in Kingston observed a 2007 Subaru Legacy traveling northbound on Foxhall Avenue in the city of Kingston in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle failed to stop and fled the area, and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle fled through the city of Kingston finally stopping at Manor Avenue and Elmendorf Street. The operator of the vehicle later identified as Duane Dumas, age 39 from the city of Kingston exited car and fled on foot. Dumas was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. He was found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun with a defaced serial number. He was charged with the felonies: Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree: Defaced Weapon. He was also charged with the misdemeanors: Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree. Dumas was also issued 10 tickets.
Duane Dumas was arraigned in front of Judge Parker at the Town of Hurley Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail without bail.
