PRESS RELEASE
On Saturday, January 25, 2021, at approximately 2:12 p.m., State Police Haverstraw stopped to assist a 2018 Dodge Durango on the Palisades Parkway in the town of Ramapo. The trooper observed the vehicle stopped southbound in the lane at exit 11. While speaking to the operator of the vehicle, identified as Mario Pacho Tocachi, age 28 of Sunset Park, NY, the trooper determined that he was impaired by alcohol. While speaking with Tocachi outside of the vehicle he fled on foot. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. While searching him, troopers located a .25 caliber handgun on his pants pocket and cocaine. A search of the vehicle yielded additional cocaine.
Mario Pacho Tocachi was charged Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Willfully Defacing a Gun, Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 5th degree (all felonies), Obstruction of Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest (misdemeanors) Tocachi was additionally charged with felony DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree (felony).
He was arraigned virtually by Town of Ramapo Judge Fried and remanded to Rockland County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail. Tocachi is scheduled to appear in court on January 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
