On March 13, 2020, at approximately 11:30 pm, State Police were conducting a DWI road check on the 7 North Street off-ramp from I-81 northbound in the town of  Salina, when a Chevrolet Equinox entered the checkpoint.  As Troopers were speaking with the driver, later identified as Shawn Aldamuy they detected a strong odor of marihuana emanating from the vehicle, a plastic bag of marijuana on the center counsel was a plastic bag of marihuana and an open bottle of alcohol in the front cup holder.

All occupants were then asked to exit the SUV and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Following the search, Troopers discovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun, (11) plastic bags containing marihuana and (11) plastic bags containing synthetic marihuana.

The following individuals were arrested:

  • Shawn R. Aldamuy, age 28 from Syracuse, NY was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (C felony) and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st degree.
  • Aaron A. Hudson, age 31 from Syracuse, NY was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (C felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor).
  • An 18-year-old male, from Syracuse, NY was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (C felony).

All parties were processed and transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment. 

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
