Cairo, NY - On March 14, 2022, at approximately 1:10 p.m., State Police from the Catskill barracks observed a 2016 Mercedes-Benz SUV traveling on State Route 23 in the town of Cairo in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. A trooper stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as Michael Rodriguez Jr, age 36 from Worcester, Massachusetts. While speaking with the trooper, probable cause was established to search the vehicle. While searching the vehicle the trooper located 51.4 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, and numerous Oxycodone tablets. Rodriguez was subsequently arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Intent to Sale 3rd degree, both felonies. He was additionally charged with the misdemeanors Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, Criminal of Drug Paraphernalia.
Rodriguez was arraigned in the Town of Cairo Court and released on his own recognizance.
