Menands, NY – On November 25, 2020, at approximately 7:00 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-787 in the village of Menands for several vehicle and traffic violations. The driver, Leroy Adkins, 54, of Albany, NY, was found to be intoxicated and had a suspended license. Adkins was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Albany where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.29%.
Additionally, Adkins has two prior DWI convictions within the last 10 years and is required to operate a vehicle with an ignition interlock device. As a result, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; both Class D Felonies, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree; a Class E Felony, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with no Ignition Interlock Device; a Class A Misdemeanor
Adkins was remanded to the Albany County Jail and is expected to return to the Village of Menands Court on November 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.
