Elbridge Man Arrested for Robbery and Assault
(Elbridge, NY - March 3, 2012) - On Saturday 03/03/12 at approximately 3:15 AM, a male victim responded to the Elbridge State Police barracks to report being assaulted and robbed of money. The victim, formerly a resident of Elbridge, is currently homeless and was asleep in his vehicle in the Champion Trailer Park when a male suspect entered his vehicle began to punch him. The suspect then demanded the victim drive to an ATM machine to retrieve money, which the suspect took and subsequently left the area. The victim and suspect are both acquaintances of an uninvolved female, and the suspect was reportedly collecting money that the victim owed to her.
The investigation led to the arrest of William Jarvis, 56 yrs of age, of 1275 St Rte 5, Elbridge, NY. He was charged with one count of Robbery in the Second Degree (a Class C Felony) and one count of Assault in the Third Degree (a class A Misdemeanor).
He was arraigned in the Town of Elbridge Court and released on his own recognizance. The male received a laceration over his eye and assorted bruises as a result of the incident, and was treated at Auburn Hospital and released.
