Two Leandra's Law Arrests on the New York State Thruway

PRESS RELEASE
 

On April 28, 2012, at approximately 11:11 PM, the New York State Police, SP Albany, stopped a vehicle on the New York State Thruway in the Town of Guilderland, Albany County, NY for speeding in a work zone.  The operator Kevin D. Howie Jr, 30, of Schenectady was found to be driving while intoxicated with a 12-yearold passenger in the vehicle. 

 

Howie was charged with Felony Aggravated DWI/Child in Vehicle (Leandra's Law) and is also on parole for a previous weapons charge.  He was arraigned the Town of Guilderland Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail.  

 

 

 

On April 29, 2012, at approximately 9:09 PM, the New York State Police, SP Albany, stopped a vehicle on the New York State Thruway in the Town of New Baltimore, Greene County, NY for speeding.  The operator Todd J. Mitchell, 32, of Queensbury was found to be operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition with a 9-year-old passenger. 

 

Mitchell was charged with Felony Aggravated DWI/Child in Vehicle (Leandra's Law) and Felony Driving While Intoxicated due to a prior DWI conviction within the previous 10 years.  He was arraigned in the Town of New Baltimore court and remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond.
