On April 29, 2012 at approximately 5:10 AM, Troopers from Troop G in Loudonville responded to a report of a one vehicle accident into a guide rail on Interstate 787 in the City of Watervliet.
Upon arrival at the scene and after conducting a brief investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, Eduardo Ortiz, 20, did not have a valid driver’s license and was intoxicated. Also present in the motor vehicle were two male passengers, ages 23 and 15. The 15-year-old passenger was turned over to his mother at the scene and the 23-year-old was given a courtesy transport.
Ortiz was transported back to Loudonville barracks where he provided a positive breath test and it was also determined that he had taken the car from a family friend without permission. He was arrested for Grand larceny in the 4th Degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Leandra’s Law, and several traffic violations with regards to the accident.
He was arraigned in the City of Watervliet Court by Judge Thomas Lamb and remanded to the Albany County Jail on $10,000 bail.
