Eight Middletown Sam's Club employees arrested following theft investigation

Middletown, NY - December 29, 2012
On December 28, 2012, the New York State Police in Middletown arrested eight persons following an investigation of organized theft by employees of the Sam’s Club store in Middletown. The investigation was conducted in conjunction with Sam’s Club Asset Protection Department. The investigation revealed that employees on the overnight shift were stealing merchandise valued at over $30,000.00 over a two-month period. The stolen merchandise included electronics, clothing, food and beer. The following subjects, all employees of the Sam’s Club store, were arrested and charged as follows:
#1: LUIS REYES, age 43, of Florida, NY. Grand larceny in the third degree.
#2: EDWARD D. BECKER, Age 40, Middletown, NY. Grand larceny in the third degree.
#3: JOSEPH E. GUST, age 34, Middletown, NY. Grand larceny in the fourth degree.
#4: NUSHA GJOKAJ, age 25, Wappingers Falls, NY. Grand larceny in the fourth degree.
#5: JORDAN THOMPSON, age 20, Middletown, NY. Petit larceny.
#6: MATTHEW C. MANN, age 18, Walden, NY. Petit larceny.
#7: JAY PRANGE, age 57, Wurtsboro, NY. Petit larceny.
#8: JERALDO MENDOZA, age 25, Mountaindale, NY. Petit larceny.
REYES and BECKER were arraigned in Town of Wallkill Court, and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail. GUST was turned over to the City of Middletown Police after it was learned he was wanted on a warrant for Menacing in the second degree. The remaining suspects were released with appearance tickets to appear in Town of Wallkill Court on January 15, 2013.
