Granville man arrested on vehicular manslaughter charges following a fatal accident in the town of Charlton

Saratoga, NY - January 20, 2013
The New York State Police at Saratoga investigated a 2-car fatal motor vehicle accident on State Route 67 in the town of Charlton which occurred at 4:55 p.m. on January 20, 2013. A vehicle being operated by Marcus R. Young, age 24, of Granville, NY was traveling westbound on State Route 67 and crossed the center of the roadway and into the eastbound lane striking an on-coming vehicle being operated by Glenn L. Smith, age 50, of Amsterdam, NY. Smith was transported from the scene by Galway Ambulance to Saratoga Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Young was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired due to Drugs and various other vehicle and traffic violations as a result of the crash.
Young was arraigned in the Town of Charlton Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bail bond. He is to reappear in the Town of Charlton Court at a later date.
