On January 23, 2013 at approximately 3:30 p.m., State Police Highland investigated a personal injury auto accident on State Route 208 in the town of Gardiner. The accident closed State Route 208 at the intersection with Forrest Glen Rd for over an hour. The State Police investigation revealed that the accident occurred when a 2000 Pontiac Firebird, turning onto State Route 208 from Forrest Glen Road, failed to yield the right of way to a 1992 International box truck owned by Vaz Co Reclaiming Service. The resulting collision caused the box truck to subsequently overturn. The trucks cargo was not affected. The operator of the Pontiac suffered a broken leg and the operator of the box truck was not injured. A heavy duty tow truck from Erichsen’s Auto in Highland responded to the scene to upright the truck and removed it.
