Fatal Accident Investigation
The New York State Police are investigating a one-car fatal auto accident that occurred on the westbound side of the Southern State Parkway in North Merrick. At 5:45AM, troopers responded to reports of a vehicle in the trees on the north shoulder of the Southern Parkway, just east of the Meadowbrook State Parkway. Kervens Boutin, age 30, of Hempstead NY, was operating a Nissan Maxima westbound on the Southern State Parkway with four passengers when he lost control and struck several trees. Pronounced dead at the accident scene were two passengers identified as Bryan Rivas, age 20, and Blossom Castro, age 22, both of Hempstead. Mr. Boutin and another passenger, Marlo Cabrera, age 19, of Bronx NY, were transported to Nassau University Medical Center with critical injuries. An additional passenger, Antonio Rivas, age 22, of Hempstead, was transported to Winthrop Hospital, also with critical injuries.
Mr. Boutin was charged with Reckless Driving. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the accident investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident please contact the New York State Police at 631-756-3300.
