Theft From Amsterdam Walmart Leads To Arrest of Multiple Gloversville Residents

(Fonda, NY - February 26, 2013) On Saturday, February 23, 2013 a Walmart employee flagged down an SP Fonda Trooper reporting that several suspects had fled the Amsterdam store with stolen merchandise. A traffic stop was initiated on the suspects' vehicle and the investigation revealed passengers, Tina Hillman, 44, of Gloversville and Derek Hayes, 31, of Gloversville had active warrants out of the City of Gloversville. Furthermore, it was discovered that Hayes and another vehicle occupant, Emma Rodriguez, 18, of Gloversville were the ones responsible for stealing the various items from Walmart. Hillman was turned over to the Gloversville Police Department on the active warrant. Rodriguez was arrested for 2 counts of Petit Larceny, was processed at SP Fonda and released with an appearance ticket returnable in the Town of Amsterdam Court on March 5th. Hayes was arrested for 4 counts of Petit Larceny, processed at SP Fonda and arraigned in the Town of Amsterdam Court. Hayes was remanded to Montgomery County Jail and ordered to reappear on February 28th.
