New York State Police Investigate Fatal, Multi-Vehicle Crash in Hebron, New York

PRESS RELEASE
 
The New York State Police in Greenwich investigated a 3 vehicle - 1 person fatal accident which occurred on State Route 22 in the Town of Hebron, Washington County. The accident occurred at approximately 9:53 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 on State Route 22 near the intersection of Dorence Lane. There was one fatality and 5 injured as follows:

                        North Adams, Massachusetts
                        Pronounced at the scene by Washington County Coroner James Gariepy
 
Injured:           Ora L. Roaix age 44               Vehicle # 1 Driver
                        Granville, NY
                        Transported to Albany Medical Center by Med Flight
 
                        Mark L. Mattison age 44      Vehicle #2 Passenger
                        South Glens Falls, NY
                        Transported to Albany Medical Center by Med Flight
 
                        Dorothy H. Brace age 87       Vehicle #3 Driver
                        West Pawlet, VT  
                        Treated at scene by EMT’s

                        Transported to Glens Falls Hospital by ambulance

Preliminary cause of the accident indicates that vehicle # 1, being operated by Ora Roaix, was traveling south on State Route 22 when it crossed into the northbound lane and struck vehicle # 2 head on killing Lisa Martin. Victim Logan Hall was traveling south on State Route 22 when he came upon the accident and stopped to assist victims Mattison and Roaix. Hall was standing next to vehicle # 1 which came to rest on its side across both lanes. Vehicle #3, being operated by Dorothy Brace, came over the crest of the hill and could not stop in time to avoid vehicle #1 and struck same sending that vehicle into pedestrian Logan Hall. Assisting the New York State Police at this scene were the Washington County Sheriff’s Dept., the Granville Police Dept., Granville & Hebron Fire Depts., and EMS from Fort Ann, Granville, Fairhaven, & Salem.  New York State Police Accident Reconstruction is also assisting in this investigation. The preliminary investigation found no sign of alcohol involvement and the circumstances surrounding the accident continue to be investigated.
