Update: Two men arrested for operating computer gaming facility
On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit executed a court ordered search warrant at the Cyber Café, 628 South Main Street, North Syracuse, NY, regarding an investigation into the Operation of an Unlawful Electronic Sweepstakes in the Central New York area. Seized was approximately $1,279.00 in cash and numerous computers which were being used to further the unlawful electronic sweepstakes.
The following subjects were arrested for Operating an Unlawful Electronic Sweepstakes in violation of section 156.40 of the NY State Penal Law (a Class E Felony):
- Joshua Lee Nelson, 24, of Dayton, OH
- Zackary S. McMahon, 30, of Myrtle Beach, SC
The defendants were issued appearance tickets returnable in the Village of North Syracuse court on July 21st, 2014 at 6:00pm and released.

2. A person is guilty of operating an unlawful electronic sweepstakes
when he or she knowingly possesses with the intent to operate, or place
into operation, an electronic machine or device to:
(a) conduct a sweepstakes through the use of an entertaining display,
including the entry process or the reveal of a prize; or
(b) promote a sweepstakes that is conducted through the use of an
entertaining display, including the entry process or the reveal of a
