State Police from the Wilton barracks investigated a 1-car, minor injury, rollover car accident on the off-ramp of I-87 at exit 17 in the Town of Moreau today. At approximately 11:00am, cellular 911callers reported that a small white car had just crashed on the southbound exit ramp at 17N of I-87. Upon arrival, Troopers located the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, an 84 yr-old man from Moreau, trapped behind the steering wheel. Moreau Fire Department, with assistance from the Wilton Fire Department, was able to safely extricate him. The driver was treated at the scene and transported by Moreau EMS to the Glens Falls Hospital where he was treated for a head injury and minor cuts and scrapes. The State Police investigation determined that unsafe speed was the primary cause of the accident. The exit ramp remained open during most of the incident.
