Troopers Make Arrests for Cocaine Possession in Broome County

On February 17, 2017, at approximately 1:28 a.m., Troopers at SP Binghamton attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2003 Chrysler minivan on Interstate 81 northbound in the Town of Kirkwood, Broome County. The operator of the vehicle failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued approximately 8 miles to ST 17 westbound, Exit 70N. The operator pulled into a parking lot and stopped off Reynolds Road in the Village of Johnson City at which point the operator and passenger were arrested. During the pursuit, the operator was observed throwing an object from the vehicle which was found to be a plastic bag containing approximately 150 grams of cocaine.
Anthony T. Thompson, age 37 of 71 Sergeant St., Johnson City, New York 13790 for Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (A-II Felony), Tampering with Physical Evidence (E – Felony), Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree (A-Misd), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Tyrell W. Tomlinson, age 29 of 704 South Ave., Tarboro, North Carolina for Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (A-II Felony).
Both defendants were arraigned in the Town of Kirkwood Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Department, Binghamton Police Department, Vestal Police Department, and Johnson City Police Department assisted with the arrests and subsequent search for evidence.
