Rochester man arrested during protest at the Border Patrol Office in Irondequoit

Wooden Finial that was thrown and struck a trooper in the head.

On March 24, 2017, at approximately 1:30 am the State Police were called to assist the Border Patrol with a protest at their station located at 171 Pattonwood Drive in the Town of Irondequoit.  After State Police members arrived to assist Border Patrol and Irondequoit PD with approximately 75 protesters, one of the protesters threw a wooden finial that struck a trooper in the head.

Troopers along with Border Patrol Agents arrested Philipp Birklbauer, age 29, from Rochester for Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree,  Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration, and Unlawful Assembly.

Birklbauer was arraigned in the Town of Irondequoit Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on 5,000 cash - $10,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing.
