Traffic Stop on N. Clinton Avenue Leads to 3 Arrests

On 3/23, the New York State Police in Rochester arrested 3 subjects following a traffic stop on N. Clinton Avenue for a seatbelt violation. While interviewing the operator, Aaron J. Johnson, 31, of Rochester, an odor of marijuana was detected from within the vehicle. He was searched and found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. A small amount of marijuana was also located upon searching the vehicle, of which Mr. Johnson claimed ownership. A DMV inquiry revealed Mr. Johnson was operating with an identificaton card only which had 18 suspensions. He also later admitted to being on parole.
The front seat passenger, Michael Huggins, 46, of Rochester, was searched with no paraphernalia located. Mr. Huggins also advised he was currently on parole, which was confirmed via DMV inquiry.
The rear seat passenger, Tyra Huggins, 45, of Rochester, was arrested after she was observed attempting to hide a plastic baggie containing cocaine in her inside jacket pocket, as well as a small amount of marijuana in her purse.
Mr. Johnson was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree and numerous traffic citations. Mr. Huggins was issued a citation for No Seatbelt. NYS Parole responded to the scene of the traffic stop and took custody of Mr. Johnson and Mr. Huggins, charging them both with Violation of Parole. They were then lodged at the Monroe County Jail.
Mrs. Huggins was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. She was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in the City of Rochester Court.
