Rochester Man Arrested for Criminal Possession of Marijuana 4th Degree

On 3/27 at approximately 8:30 p.m., the New York State Police in Rochester arrested Thomas W. Schotts, 25, of Rochester, following a traffic stop for speeding on Interstate 490 in the city of Rochester. During the traffic stop, a strong odor of marijuana was detected from within the vehicle. Subsequent to a vehicle search, a plastic container with over 2 ounces (62.5 grams) of marijuana was found underneath the passenger seat. Additionally, a ceramic smoking pipe was marijuana residue was located in the passenger side door handle. The front seat passenger, Hannah Metlay, 23, of Rochester, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana for the ceramic pipe and released at the scene, to appear in the City of Rochester Court at a later date. Mr. Schotts was taken into custody for Criminal Possession of Marijuana 4th degree, processed at SP Rochester, and released on an appearance ticket and several traffic citations, all returnable to the City of Rochester Court.
