Fort Covington man arrested for welfare fraud

On April 28, 2017, State Police arrested John J. Boyea, 44, of Fort Covington, for Welfare Fraud. Boyea stole $1,870.44 worth of benefits from the Franklin County Social Services Department. Subsequent to an investigation conducted by State Police and the Franklin County Department of Social Services, Boyea was charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Welfare Fraud 4th Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree.
Boyea was arraigned in Malone Town Court where he was remanded to the Franklin County Jail in leiu of $2,500 cash bail, or $5,000 bond.
