Quebec man arrested at Champlain POE for drug possession

On April 28, 2017, at approximately 12:30 a.m. State Police responded to the Champlain Port of Entry for a report of a male attempting to enter the U.S.in possession of drugs. U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped Martin Dumont, 34, of Quebec, operating a 2012 Volkswagon Passat. He was found in possession of approximately 28 pounds of marihuana, 200 grams of hashish, and 1 ecstasy pill.
Dumont was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Marihuana 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Chazy Court where he was remanded to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, or $10,000 bond.
