State Police, along with Rensselaer City Police, Rensselaer Fire Department, and Albany Fire Department, responded to the Patroon Island Bridge on Interstate 90 Sunday afternoon for a male subject threatening to jump into the Hudson River. A boat from the Troy Fire Department also responded on the river. Traffic was stopped in the westbound lanes for about two hours while police talked to the distraught 32 year old man. He was sitting on the concrete barrier with his legs hanging over the side of the bridge. A Trooper and State Police negotiator were eventually able to convince the man to come away from the edge. He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
