State Police are investigating a one-car crash in Herkimer County

PRESS RELEASE

On December 29, 2017, State Police in Herkimer responded to a one-car serious personal injury accident on Elizabethtown Road in the town of Columbia.

Initial investigation revealed, at approximately 11:20 a.m., a 2001 Toyota was traveling south on Elizabethtown Road when according to a witness, the vehicle abruptly exited the east shoulder of the roadway, struck a telephone line pedestal, utility pole guide wire, and utility pole coming to rest on the driver’s side.  The operator, 47-year-old Michele L. Snyder from Ilion, NY sustained head injuries, several broken ribs, and was transported by MOVAC ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica, NY.  A passenger, Joshua M. Tripple, age 39, from Frankfort, NY sustained multiple facial fractures and other internal injuries causing him to be transported by a Mercy Flight Helicopter to Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.

The investigation is continuing.
