COUPLE ARRESTED FOR DRUG CHARGES AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

On January 20, 2018, at approximately 7:50 pm, New York State Troopers stopped a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee for speeding and insufficient tail lights on the Northern State Parkway in the area of exit 25, in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County. The investigation revealed that the vehicle contained more than 22 pounds of methamphetamine.
Francisco Roman Parra Perez, age 27, and Sandra Cardenas Parra, age 36, both of Phoenix, AZ, were each charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (A-II Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (B Felony). Both subjects were processed and lodged at the Nassau County Detention for arraignment at Nassau County First District Court on 01/22/18.
New York State Police Major David Candelaria, Troop L Commander, said, “This investigation resulted in the removal of a large quantity of a dangerous drug that was destined for the streets of Nassau County, with an estimated street value of 1.3 million dollars. The New York State Police and our partner agencies will continue to attack the illicit trafficking of dangerous narcotics into our communities.”
