Gloversville pair arrested for possession of cocaine subsequent to a traffic stop.

Gifford                     Chandler 

Woodbury, NY – On February 1, 2018, at approximately 4:40 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87, in the town of Woodbury for vehicle and traffic violations.  During the interviewing of the driver Joshua R. Gifford, age 42, of Gloversville, NY, for the vehicle and traffic violations probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established. During the searching the vehicle and the passenger Thomas Chandler, age 36, of Gloversville, NY, a small bag containing cocaine residue was located inside the vehicle. Both subjects were taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Newburgh. While at SP Newburgh a more thorough search of both subjects was completed. Located on Thomas Chandlers person was approximately 4 grams of crack cocaine and 31 grams of powdered cocaine. Both men were subsequently charged with:  
 
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree; a Class B Felony (with intent to sell) Chandler only  
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree; a Class B Felony (Controlled substance narcotic drug) Chandler only
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree; a Class C Felony (Chandler only)  
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree; a Class A Misdemeanor (Chandler and Gifford)
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violations (Gifford only)
 
  
 
 Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Woodbury Court. No bail information or return court date available at this time.
