Louisville, KY man arrested for possessing a stolen handgun after traffic stop

 Leroy, NY – On February 4, 2018, at approximately 9:46 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90, in the town of Leroy for a speeding violation.  During the Trooper’s investigation at the scene probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established. The driver Alberto G. Santos, age 23, of Louisville, KY, was found to be in operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and in possession of approximately 1 gram of Marihuana.  Santos was also found in possession of a loaded Sig Sauer 9mm handgun which was later determined to be reported stolen out of the state of Indiana. Further investigation at the scene reveled that Santos was also wanted as a fugitive from justice out of the state of Indiana. He was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Buffalo, where he was subsequently charged with:
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree; a Class C Felony (loaded firearm)
  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree; a Class E Felony (Firearm)
  • Unlawful Possession of Marihuana: a Violation
  • Fugitive from Justice
  • Vehicle and Traffic violations
Santos was arraigned in the Town of Leroy Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $50,000. Cash or $100,000. Bond. Return court date of February 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Town of Leroy Court.
