Troop T advises motorists to use caution when traveling the New York State Thruway during severe winter weather
NEW YORK STATE POLICE
Major Douglas R. Keyer Jr.
Troop T Commander
The New York State Police in Troop T, cover 570 miles spanning 20 counties and 125 Cities, Towns, and Villages across New York State. During winter weather events we would like to remind motorists to exercise due care when traveling the New York State Thruway System.
The chance of inclement weather consisting of snow and high wind is expected to continue for most of today; which will make all affected roadways slick and unpredictable. Allow adjustments to your schedule to ensure a safe commute or simply avoid unnecessary travel.
Keep your cell phone battery charged and keep it with you whenever traveling. If you should become stranded on the thruway, know your location by being aware of your direction and mile post marker. This will help emergency personnel reach your location as quick as possible.
Make sure someone knows your travel plans and the routes you are taking.
