UPDATED INFORMATION ALL LANES OPEN I-87 (Mario M. Cuomo Bridge)

Orangetown, NY – On February 7, 2018, at approximately 9:30 a.m., State Police responded to investigate a multi car personal injury accident Northbound on I-87 (Mario M. Cuomo Bridge) in the Town of Orangetown.
The investigation at the scene revealed that approximately 25 vehicles were involved in a chain reaction type accident which started on the northbound side of I-87. The jersey barrier was struck and pushed into the left lane of southbound traffic causing additional accidents. All lanes are open except for (1) left lane in the northbound and (1) left lane in the southbound traffic. Traffic delays may still exist in the area, unknown duration of lane closures. Four people were transported by ambulance to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
