Two Ithaca residents arrested on multiple charges

On February 14, 2018, members of the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), Troop”C” Uniform Force, and NYSP K9, conducted a narcotic investigation on State Route 79, in the Town of Ithaca, Tompkins County, NY.
Investigators seized approximately 4 ounces of cocaine, a digital scale, cellular phones and approximately $1600 in US currency.
As a result of the investigation, Maleek L. Miller, 32 of Ithaca, NY and Kaitlin E. Smith, 35 of Ithaca, NY were both arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree (class B felony) and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (class A misdemeanor). Smith was additionally charged with Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd degree (class A misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd degree, operating a motor vehicle without a license and following too closely.
Miller was arraigned in the Town of Ithaca Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail with no bail.
Smith was arraigned in the Town of Ithaca Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail with $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond.
The arrests were the result of a four-month investigation conducted by the New York State Police, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the Ithaca Police Department.
