Binghamton woman arrested with illegal drugs and a weapon after traffic stop

(Chenango, NY – February 26, 2018) On February 24, 2018, at about 9:22 p.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Sandra L. Brownell, age 37, of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanors of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, the violation of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, and other traffic violations.
This arrest occurred after a traffic stop when a vehicle was observed driving with an inadequate plate lamp while on State Route 12 in the town of Chenango. Once stopped an odor of marijuana was detected inside the vehicle. A search found that Brownell unlawfully possessed a small quantity of marijuana and concentrated marijuana wax. She also was found to unlawfully possess a billy club inside her vehicle.
Brownell was issued tickets that are returnable to the town of Chenango Court on February 28, 2018.
