Sobriety checkpoint yields several arrests

State Police from the Zone Two stations of SP Clifton Park, SP Granville, SP Saratoga, SP Queensbury and SP Wilton conducted a sobriety checkpoint in the town of Ballston on Saturday night. The following arrests were made:
-Nathan Biss, 26, of Middle Grove, for Driving While Intoxicated. Biss tested at a .15% blood alcohol concentration. He will appear in the Ballston Town Court on March 14th.
-Margaret Barry, 54, of Scotia, for Driving While Intoxicated. Barry tested at a .10% blood alcohol concentration. She will appear in the Ballston Town Court on March 7th.
-James Hanley, 21, of Ballston for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Hanley was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and found to be impaired. He was found in possession of a marihuana cigarette and a metal grinding device, containing the drug. Hanley will appear in the Ballston Town Court on March 14th.
-Alison Curtis, 19, of Ballston Spa for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. Curtis was found with several tablets of Clonazepam, a Schedule IV depressant. She will appear in the Ballston Town Court on March 14th.
-Bridget Winston, 25, of Mechanicville for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. She was found with a glass jar, containing marihuana and a glass smoking pipe and a metal grinding device, both containing the drug. Winston will appear in the Ballston Town Court on March 14th.
Several people who had been drinking alcoholic beverages passed through the checkpoint, using transportation services, such as taxi cabs, Uber and Lyft. Troopers were pleased to meet designated drivers who gave safe rides to family and friends.
