Troopers continue investigation of serious injury crash on March 17th

On March 17th, 2018 at approximately 5:13 P.M. troopers responded to reports of a wrong way driver and subsequent head on crash on Interstate 90 in the city of Albany.
The investigation at the scene determined that a vehicle was travelling eastbound in the westbound lane on I-90 which resulted in a head-on collision in the vicinity of mile post marker 3.6 in the city of Albany. That vehicle, a 2017 Honda, was operated by Andrew M. Febbie, 21, of Albany. He was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with internal and abdominal bleeding where he underwent surgery and was last listed in serious but stable condition.
The second vehicle, a 2016 Honda, was operated by Atoria J. Elem, 21, of Rensselaer. She was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with injuries to her pelvis and fractures and wounds to both legs. She was last listed in serious but stable condition.
Both vehicle operators were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and neither was ejected from their respective vehicles.
The investigation is continuing to determine additional details of the crash. Febbie will be charged in Albany City Court with Aggravated Vehicular Assault, Driving while intoxicated, Reckless driving, and other Vehicle & Traffic Law violations.
