NEW YORK STATE POLICE
Major Robert E. Patnaude
Troop G Commander
At approximately 2:16 a.m., Mr. Piasecki was observed operating a black VW Jetta on Market Street in the City of Amsterdam without it's taillights on. A traffic stop was initiated. During the approach, the Trooper observed an open can of Bud Platinum in the center console cupholder. The Trooper also observed the odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from within the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The operator had watery, bloodshot eyes and a red face.
Mr. Piasecki was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests which he subsequently failed. He also submitted to a Pre-Breath Test Screening which yielded a positive result for the presence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest for the suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. He was transported back to the State Police barracks in Fonda for processing. While at SP Fonda, he submitted to a breath test which yielded a 0.09% BAC. He was charged with misdemeanor level DWI. He was released to a sober third party with appearance tickets for the City of Amsterdam Court on a later date.
