Jamestown man arrested for Felony DWI

SP Amity - On April 14, 2018, Troopers arrested Ruben Vargas, 37 of Jamestown, NY, for Felony Driving While Intoxicated.

Troopers investigating a report of a vehicle driving erratically stopped Vargas on Interstate 86 eastbound in the Town of Angelica after several V&T violations were observed.  Upon interview, Troopers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage.  SFSTs were attempted and subsequently failed.  Vargas was arrested and transported to SP Amity for processing where he recorded a 0.17% BAC.  Due to a prior conviction of DWI within the previous ten years, Vargas was charged with a Felony.   He was arraigned before the Town of Friendship Court and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $300 cash/$600 bond, and is due to appear before the Town of Angelica Court on 5/23/2018 at 6:00PM.
