Driver stopped for not wearing seatbelt, two arrested on drug charges

(Dryden, NY – April 16, 2018) – On April 14, 2018 at approximately 1:23 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested two people after they stopped a driver who was not wearing his seatbelt.
Troopers observed Cullen M. Watson, age 24 of Ithaca, NY traveling on Main St., in the town of Dryden. They noticed he was not wearing a seatbelt and initiated a traffic stop.
An investigation revealed that Watson was in possession of stolen property and did have drugs in the vehicle. He was charged with the misdemeanors of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree.
A passenger in the vehicle, Kenji R. Monroe, age 40 of Ithaca, NY was charged with the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and the violation of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.
Both Watson and Monroe were released on tickets returnable to the town of Dryden Court on April 25, 2018.
