State Police Investigating a Fatal Crash in the town of Verona

State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the New York State Thruway (I-90) westbound, ½ mile west of Exit 33, in the town of Verona, Oneida County.
The investigation has revealed that at approximately 2:30 a.m., a 2002 Toyota Solara, with four occupants, was disabled and stopped with its hazard lights activated along the shoulder of the roadway.
The driver, Arthur L. Hunter, age 26, from Syracuse, NY was outside the vehicle attempting to make mechanical repairs when a 2018 Freightliner Box Truck drifted off the roadway and struck their vehicle from the rear. Hunter was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three male passengers, ages 17, 18 and 19 were transported to SUNY Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with minor injuries.
The driver of the box truck, Remus J. Parish, age 42, from Cleveland, Ohio was transported to Oneida Healthcare Facility for minor injuries. He was issued a ticket for Moving from Lane Unsafely, a violation.
The investigation is continuing.
