Plattsburgh man arrested in Peru following domestic dispute

On June 3, 2018, at approximately 3 p.m., State Police responded to a residence on Peasleeville Road in the town of Peru for a report of a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, State Police arrested 21-year-old Damian C. Cox, of Plattsburgh for violating an active stay-away order of protection issued by the Plattsburgh Town Court by unlawfully entering into the victim’s residence and stealing a cell phone belonging to the protected party, an 18-year-old victim. Troopers found Cox fleeing through a window and into the woods behind the residence. A State Police K-9 unit responded to assist and initiated pursuit east of Campsite Road. State Police K9 was able to apprehend Cox just south of Alexander Way in the town of Peru. Cox was bitten by the K9 in the process of the apprehension. He was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center at the Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh for treatment. Cox was found in possession of a pipe containing residue of synthetic marijuana.
Cox was charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Mischief 4th degree, Criminal Trespass 2nd degree, Criminal Contempt 1st degree, Harassment 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Family Offense and Violating State Sanitary Code under the New York State Public Health Law.
Upon his release from the hospital, Cox was transported to the Town of Peru Court for arraignment. He was remanded to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail, or $6,000 bond.
