Two Canton residents arrested following a stop

On June 4, 2018, at approximately 12:40 a.m., State Police conducted a welfare check on the occupants of a vehicle which was found parked and running in the parking lot of Route 11 Trucking in the town of Canton, after business hours.
The driver was identified as 32-year-old Michael K. Labaff, and the passenger was identified as 30-year-old Jamie L. Oshier, both of Canton. Labaff was subsequently arrested for DWAI-Drugs. Labaff was also found in possession of a needle loaded with heroin, and a glass smoking pipe with crack-cocaine residue. Oshier was found in possession of a small quantity of heroin.
Subsequent to a Drug Recognition Evaluation, Labaff was charged with DWAI Combined-Drugs and Alcohol, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, as well as various other vehicle and traffic violations. Labaff was arraigned in the Town of Canton Court where he was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond. Oshier was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. Oshier was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Canton Court.
State Police were assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
