On June 5, 2018, investigators with the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Latham arrested Wayne J. Bowden, 30, of Newburgh, NY. Bowden was charged with one count of Falsifying Business Records in the first degree, Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the first degree, and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the second degree.

In the fall of 2017, Bowden filed fraudulent military documents with his application to take the trooper entrance exam in an attempt to gain additional Civil Service credit as a veteran on his final exam score.
