On June 6, 2018, State Police arrested 37-year-old Melissa L. Castner, of Bangor, for making phone calls to a victim who was the protected party on a duly served order of protection. An investigation revealed that Castner made multiple calls to the victim while she was incarcerated at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, between the dates of May 2, 2018, and May 7, 2018. During the calls, Castner encouraged the victim to drop charges against her stemming from a previous domestic incident.
Castner was charged with Criminal Contempt 2nd degree, and Tampering with a Witness 4th degree, both misdemeanors. She was released back to the custody of the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with appearance tickets returnable in the Town of Canton Court on June 13, 2018, at 1:30 p.m.
